Week 7

My Accomplishments
For this week, I was able to execute my other rated teaching and my demo-teaching observed by my Supervising Instructor. Also for this week, I was able to control my emotional problems.
My Significant Experiences
I was not actually ready for the demo-teaching because my schedule was supposed to be next week but then our schedule was suddenly changed without me noticing it. It was just last Tuesday afternoon when I saw it, and I was the last person who saw it because I just came from a straight teaching. So I rushed to my critic teacher and asked her to give me a lesson. And since it was already the end of lesson two and there are no other choices, I had to have the lesson on ‘collocations’. Also the time was not supposed to be 3:00-4:00 but since there are no other time slots and nobody wants to exchange, there’s again no choice for me but to go for it. It was good that my critic teacher gave me time to practice before my demo-teaching, but I don’t’ know, maybe I was not really good at that lesson so my demo was not that satisfactory. Well I just hope that it will not be a re-demo and that I can do better for the 2nd demo when we will be at the Laboratory School.
My Insights
There are really times that we expect something at the same time do not expect the things to happen. I learned to be more prepared than just prepared.
Problems
My very comment during my rated demo-teaching with my critic teacher was on the art of questioning, that it should be spontaneous and has follow-up questions that will relate to the lives of the students. Next is my voice, my critic teacher said that it needs to be more modulated because it is soft. Third is that, teaching should not be a spoon-feeding the students.
Solutions
I will try to practice the art of questioning so that there will be no hanging ideas, also make my voice louder by practicing to speak appropriately and louder. As my critic teacher said, I will let my students be the one to explain the lesson, give examples and be the one to define the lesson for the day.
My Goals Next Week
I’m looking forward for an improvement on my teaching skills; be mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally stable.

Week 6 (September 15-19)

My Accomplishments:
I experienced having a straight teaching last Tuesday, it was supposed to be last Monday but because of the typhoon we didn't have our classes. Other than I also had executed more than 3 lessons this week.
My Significant Experiences:
As I sail through the ocean of education, I have experienced straight teaching though it was not Monday because of the typhoon. But at least I tried to teach the different sections that my teacher is handling. I was nervous because it’s my first time to teach the other 2 sections. But after that it was worth it because the tension I had was gone and was replaced with satisfaction that after teaching the first section, I’m reflecting on the things to improve and not to do, as well as my critic teacher helped me by giving tips and advises to me, so as I take the next class, I feel like I’m becoming better.
I also had experienced having a change of topic because of some instances that have occurred, so I had to make another lesson plan to be executed to the next class, lucky for me that I had vacant for  three hours, and so with great faith I was able to finish it before the scheduled time. I was able to execute it in class after that, I felt very happy because even though at first I was again tensed, but at least I did it well as said by my critic teacher. Thanks to her!J
My Insights:
I now clearly see that when a teacher builds a good rapport to her students, it also affects how they participate well in class. Also when a teacher gives good consideration in class, students tend to participate more in class.
Problems:
How can I be like my critic teacher who is very smart, considerate, and loved by her students?
Solution:
As the waves go stronger and harder, my ship should also be firm and also strong for it not to drown. So for me to be able to reach my destination, I will my try my best to be good and be better teacher.
My Goals for Next Week:

My goal for next week is simple, for me to be able to sail to my destination following my map. That for me to be able to execute more lessons well.

Week 5 (September 8-12, 2014)

My Accomplishments
I was able to enjoy our 3-day training and learned to be appreciate and be satisfied with the things that I have and treating everything in life as a blessing every day.

My Significant Experiences

Last September 8-10 was our Basic Scouting Training at Quezon Elementary School. At first, I was not happy going there because I just felt bored during the first day for what I’m expecting was an outdoor training where we could be doing some outdoor works like putting up a fire, and others. Instead we just seated for the whole day listening to the topics being discussed, and so many of our classmates fell asleep on their seats. But for me, I was trying all my best just to stay awake like eating, taking down notes but I even took pictures of my classmates sleeping. But then, I realized that the 3-day training was meant for leadership, and not going their just for fun. We are teachers and leaders to be that is why we need to know first the basics, the history and everything about what we are going to lead. And so for the next days, I enjoyed for we also had activities like having a flag and name of our own group; presenting a skit about social involvement; having our own cheer and song. We also had our campfire during the second day. We experienced how the ceremony was done. It was just a short program before going to sleep and bone fire is not needed. So we went home late that time. On the third day, we had an outdoor activity, we learned about knot tying, using the compass, measuring without the use of an instrument, giving first aids, lashing and knowing the flag code. Overall, I enjoyed our scouting, thanks to Sir Jaime Castro who made our days enjoyable sharing his full energy and talent to us. I salute him for his age 85, he is still strong and jolly all the time.
Thursday, we went back to school and had our own lesson. As for me, I helped my critic teacher in facilitating our class with their activities.

My Insights
I learned that if I put all things in mind positively, it all goes well. Like when I said that I was bored during the first day of our training and I told myself that everything has a purpose, it all ended wonderfully. And it’s true that we are the one’s controlling our own destinies by making use of our heart, mind and action.
Problems
I told myself before that I won’t tell my problems to other people because I might affect them. But as months and days pass by, I realized that I’m becoming lonely and I don’t want that my practice teaching is affected.
Solutions
Since I have many friends, I will keep in touch with them and always stay healthy and be positive in life so that everything will be okay. If others have surpassed being single, I know that I can too, maybe I was just used to be in a relationship for years. As young adults, we also have to be emotionally matured to take aside emotional problems out of the real world so as not to affect other people.
My Goals Next Week

I wish that I’ll be able to execute more lessons in good way and have good score. J Also, I’m looking forward to a better tomorrow where smiles around never fails to show.

Week # 4 (September 1-5, 2014)

My Accomplishments:
I started this month of September with love to Mother Nature; I joined the tree planting last September 1 (Monday) with my critic teacher, students, and other co-student teachers at Barangay South Drive, Baguio City. It was good that we joined and be able to plant at least 5 trees each. I was also able to check the journals of my students reflecting on the life of “Makato and the Cowrie Shell”. I also had an introductory lesson on the lesson: “Revisiting our Rich Past” which is the next topic for this quarter. And last Friday, our advisory class was tasked to finish their Investigatory Project, so I and my critic teacher decorated our classroom in preparation for judging of classrooms on Monday (September 8, 2014). But we were not able to finish it the whole day so my critic teacher asked us to continue it the following day which is Saturday.

My Significant Experiences:
When we went to Barangay South Drive for our tree planting, we walked. It was fun because there were only few people on the street or even at Session Road since it was closed in preparation for the parade of Baguio Day Celebration. We were oriented before we planted the trees so as to have additional knowledge on what and how to do the planting. Afterwhich, we were all happy that we accomplished our goal for that morning and that we planted more than 100 trees. So before we went home, we all hoped that the trees we planted will grow.

My Insights:
I thought before that if I have started my teaching the right way, it would always stay as is. The last time I taught, I didn’t felt good about my teaching because, my students were all silent and only few of them were actively participating. So I promised myself and my Critic Teacher that I will do better next time. I was so happy that she said to me: “Practice makes perfect, so just go on and improve yourself.”

Problems:
Comments given to me before during my first teaching was my voice, it was not that modulated, so I have to practice it. But still when I taught for the third time, I think I still have to improve my voice for it to be modulated so students at the back can hear me clearly.

Solution:
First, I might have to train speaking in front of my classmates or friends observing louder voice. Second is train myself to encourage my students in participating in class so there will be an interaction inside the classroom while teaching. And thirdly, I should be taking the comments given to me positively to have a good teaching result soon.

My Goals for Next Week:
I hope that I could be able to have a lesson next week and that I could be able to execute the lessons well.
