Week # 4 (September 1-5, 2014)

My Accomplishments:
I started this month of September with love to Mother Nature; I joined the tree planting last September 1 (Monday) with my critic teacher, students, and other co-student teachers at Barangay South Drive, Baguio City. It was good that we joined and be able to plant at least 5 trees each. I was also able to check the journals of my students reflecting on the life of “Makato and the Cowrie Shell”. I also had an introductory lesson on the lesson: “Revisiting our Rich Past” which is the next topic for this quarter. And last Friday, our advisory class was tasked to finish their Investigatory Project, so I and my critic teacher decorated our classroom in preparation for judging of classrooms on Monday (September 8, 2014). But we were not able to finish it the whole day so my critic teacher asked us to continue it the following day which is Saturday.

My Significant Experiences:
When we went to Barangay South Drive for our tree planting, we walked. It was fun because there were only few people on the street or even at Session Road since it was closed in preparation for the parade of Baguio Day Celebration. We were oriented before we planted the trees so as to have additional knowledge on what and how to do the planting. Afterwhich, we were all happy that we accomplished our goal for that morning and that we planted more than 100 trees. So before we went home, we all hoped that the trees we planted will grow.

My Insights:
I thought before that if I have started my teaching the right way, it would always stay as is. The last time I taught, I didn’t felt good about my teaching because, my students were all silent and only few of them were actively participating. So I promised myself and my Critic Teacher that I will do better next time. I was so happy that she said to me: “Practice makes perfect, so just go on and improve yourself.”

Problems:
Comments given to me before during my first teaching was my voice, it was not that modulated, so I have to practice it. But still when I taught for the third time, I think I still have to improve my voice for it to be modulated so students at the back can hear me clearly.

Solution:
First, I might have to train speaking in front of my classmates or friends observing louder voice. Second is train myself to encourage my students in participating in class so there will be an interaction inside the classroom while teaching. And thirdly, I should be taking the comments given to me positively to have a good teaching result soon.

My Goals for Next Week:
I hope that I could be able to have a lesson next week and that I could be able to execute the lessons well.
